Is this an......April Fools joke or something....
Sun, April 13, 2008 - 2:45 PMThey release two albums, years apart that sound the same.
Then enters Brian Eno...out of the BLUE, and walla... the text book... "experimentation" album. It's ridiculous. -

Sun, April 13, 2008 - 9:51 PM"We're still obsessed with making songs that can be sung to the rafters,"
Who are these rafters? And how can they all be Shot? -

Re: Coldplay set to release their KID A *insert various tuffs of laughter*
Tue, April 15, 2008 - 10:20 PMthere are many many worse bands than coldplay. don't be a radiohead elitist.
at least they write songs with actual hooks and melodies and slightly thought-out structure.
and its good that they actually are exploring and 'experimenting' - why is this a bad thing? -

Wed, April 16, 2008 - 7:57 AMEverything Coldplay has done is taken right out of the RH playbook. . .(Down to the political activism) This to me is obviously a forced attempt to salvage whatever reputation they have as being decent musicians. Hiring Eno to produce their "experimental album". ha!
I find it all fake.

Wed, April 16, 2008 - 8:20 AMIt's not a bad thing per say however I just don't care for them. Its all about taste. Good on you or anyone else who likes them. They put me to sleep. Oh and I will allways be a radiohead elitist.
Pass the arugula please. -

Re: Coldplay set to release their KID A *insert various tuffs of laughter*
Mon, April 21, 2008 - 12:21 PMcan you really claim to be "experimenting" when you have to bring in a well-practiced, professional producer to make sure it all sounds experimental enough? is experimental still a pertinant word for music like this anymore at all? a lot of bands have done experimental things (like radiohead computerizing their music), but it seems kinda like "experimental" is turning more into a genre than an alteration of any previous musical style. i can appreciate coldplay for what they are, though i'll probably never really enjoy their music, but i really don't see them breaking any new ground unless they get offa their traditional drums-guitar-piano setup and really explore some less-cheesy means of music. -

Re: Coldplay set to release their KID A *insert various tuffs of laughter*
Tue, April 22, 2008 - 6:37 AMAs usual, it all comes down to writing. You can bring in Eno, and use a bunch of old analog noisemakers and get a bunch of weird sounds, but if the songs are still verse, chorus, verse, radio-format, then its hardly experimental. Its just recorded with some different gear.
They'll probably still be a cereal-box band, but if they want to write some different tunes, I won't stop them.
